From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company. One that not only celebrated coffee and the rich tradition, but that also brought a feeling of connection. We are known for developing extraordinary leaders who share this passion and are guided by their service to others.

As a director focused on ESG in Investor Relations, you will direct core aspects of the investor relations’ ESG function and act as a strategic yet hands-on leader to ensure the ESG outreach program to shareholders of Starbucks is comprehensive, compelling and consistent.

As a director, you will…

• Co-create the IR ESG strategy – co-create processes and practices to enhance the ESG aspect of the investor relations function, with the ability to ideate, organize and present well thought-out strategies independently, as well as project manage aspects of the broader IR strategy, inclusive of the biennial investor day
• Lead the preparation of critical deliverables – oversee and ensure the preparation of well thought-out and organized materials, inclusive of external pre-read documents, status reporting and other key materials that circulate to investors, executives and the Board
• Oversee timely and accurate investor communications – construct and/or approve timely responses to inquiries, while ensuring accuracy and consistency through research and consultation
• Monitor industry trends – understand peer company ESG practices and broader industry trends, and incorporate best practices into the IR function
• Demonstrate curiosity and act independently in research – equip yourself with historical business knowledge and broader ESG goals/progress for assisting on, and ultimately leading, investor calls related to ESG
• Oversee cross-functional requests with accuracy – ensure requests from other functions, including but not limited to the IR finance, Legal, Sustainability and PA teams are fulfilled accurately and timely
• Collaborate and influence cross-functional workstreams – work cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, Public Affairs, and Sustainability teams to direct processes and manage the receipt of critical information and deliverables to meet competing deadlines
• Serve as a proxy, liaison and resource – act as a collaborative and action-oriented leader while representing the investor relations team. Serve as a liaison for the function with external advisors and investors
• Develop innovative approaches to complex problems and situations – perform various ad-hoc duties, which may require research, benchmarking and cross-functional teamwork to identify solutions and opportunities
• Develop and coach team members – serve as an adaptable leader who can flex leadership style to bring out the best in a warm and closely knit, light-hearted but hard-working team
• Enjoy working on a fun, high-performing team – have a clear ability to drive the business forward while acting in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles

We’d love to hear from people with the following experiences:

• A minimum of 15 years in sustainability, governance or investor relations
• A minimum of 10 years of direct people/team management
• Interacting with shareholders as a representative for the Company
• Fluent in Power point, dashboards and related tools
